Abstract. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of works, teaching methods and bridge structures for the domestic and world bridge building, designed according to the projects of the outstanding engineer Lavr Dmitrievich Proskuryakov. He was the first to use graph – analytical methods for calculating bridges; developed simple statically determinable triangular truss grid systems, more convenient to manufacture and install; developed a methodology for teaching compromising materials on the basis of three principles: visibility, accessibility, quick wit and much more.

L.D. Proskuryakov worked for more than 15 years at IMIU, MIIIPS, MIIT, leaving a rich engineering legacy in the form of: a mechanical laboratory with unique facilities that have been operating to date; a real project of the Moscow Andreevsky bridge in two folios; bridge designs across the Oka – at Murom, Kashira; through the Volkhov, Cheremshanka, etc. Studying the engineering heritage of L.D. Proskuryakov will help him better understand and use this knowledge for work at present.
