Abstract. The author identified problems of insufficient stability of road surfaces to temperature fluctuations and formation of defects are revealed. The relevance of improving the quality of polymer-bitumen binders (PBV) in the composition of asphalt concrete mixtures is shown. The technologies of production of road bitumen are generalized. The necessity of modification of bituminous binders, including for the regulation of thermoplastic compositions, is established. The prospects of using rubber crumb as a modifier and its influence on the properties of PBV are shown. Thus, the article systematization of some scientific and practical results of obtaining bitumen with improved properties due to changes in the technology of their production. It is shown that the modification is a less expensive and more technological solution for the regulation of the properties of PBV, compared to the introduction of new production technologies. Systematized presentation on the impact of various modifiers on the properties of a PBV. It is found that the characteristics of PBV are determined by the properties of bitumen and polymers and their ratio in the composition. The prospects of using rubber crumb as a modifier of PBV are shown. Its positive influence on the regulation of thermoplastic properties of compositions is determined. It is revealed that the use of waste rubber and tire industries can reduce the problems of the temperature range of road surfaces, crack resistance, environmental friendliness, efficiency, etc.
