Abstract. Introduction. The relevance is due to the need to increase the durability of road patching in conditions of frequent temperature changes over 0°C. The purpose of the study is to develop the composition of an all-season cold asphalt concrete mixture using recycled materials and a nanostructuring additive to ensure high operational reliability of urban coatings. The tasks of selecting the mineral part of a mixture with various materials, developing a liquid bitumen polymer binder and evaluating their properties are formulated.
Materials and methods. Granite crushed stone, sand, converter slag and milled asphalt scrap were used as aggregates. The organic binder is liquid bitumen SG 70/130, modified with SBS polymer and «Multigrade fullerene» nano-additive. The research methods included scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the Rolling Bottle Test method for evaluating the adhesive properties of a binder, testing cold asphalt concrete for rutting and abrasion using the Prall method.
The results of the study. It was found that the introduction of nano-additives through ultrasonic dispersion creates a stable spatial grid in the bitumen matrix, increasing the adhesive properties of the liquid bitumen polymer binder by 2,8 times compared with the control sample (film retention up to 95 %). Optimal compositions of cold asphalt concrete mix AH16 have been developed. The permissible caking capacity of a cold asphalt-concrete mixture has been experimentally confirmed. A steady increase in the performance of cold asphalt concrete was noted. It was found that the use of slag materials made it possible to reduce the track depth from 8,1 mm to 4,8 mm and reduce the abrasion index by 30,5 %.
Conclusions. The developed compositions of cold asphalt concrete mixtures are an effective alternative to cast mixtures. The scientific value lies in substantiating the synergistic effect of nanostructured binders and recycled materials. It is recommended to introduce mixtures for the rapid repair of the urban road network, which will ensure the durability of the repair layer and reduce operating costs.
