Abstract. In this work four stages of life cycle of a bridge construction are considered: design, production, construction (installation), operation. It is noted that the operational phase is the longest and makes decades. Therefore problems of long safety and loading capacity of bridge constructions need to pay special attention. Further in work questions of inspections of bridge constructions and processing of the obtained information for the purpose of obtaining the short, but capacious conclusion about a condition of a bridge construction are considered. At the same time several techniques of information processing for the purpose of obtaining such conclusion are considered. Automation of process of assessment of a condition of a bridge construction by development of intellectual system which would allow to store and process expert knowledge in the field is noted importance.

Then some intellectual (expert) systems for design of bridge constructions are considered, and emphasis is placed on foreign developments. Bridge Design Expert System for design of flying structures of small and average bridges, and some other expert systems is considered. As an example features of the expert system «Bentley LEAP Bridge Enterprise» which is widely used for design of small reinforced concrete bridges in the USA and also the expert system «LEAP Bridge Steel» of the same Bentley allowing to carry out design, three-dimensional modeling, the settlement analysis, assessment of loading capacity of metal bridges are in more detail described.
