Abstract. This paper examines the most popular technical solutions for noise barrier foundations used in road construction or reconstruction projects. It presents both the advantages and disadvantages of these solutions and justifies the effectiveness of using screw piles in constructing noise barrier foundations. Among various constructive implementations of foundations, the single-pile option is the most efficient in terms of material intensity. However, it also highlights the limitations of this approach, particularly under moment and horizontal loads, where the pile does not operate in the most favorable conditions. The paper describes the primary approaches to calculating such piles used in design practice and provides a critical analysis of the regulatory methodology for calculating horizontal loads on screw piles. It shares the experience of developing technical solutions for noise barrier foundations using screw piles and their implementation in one of the reconstruction sections of a highway near Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan. The results of additional research on the properties of fill soils at the construction site using dynamic sounding are presented. The adopted solution for construction sections with soils having low physical and mechanical characteristics is described, supported by numerical calculations and field tests. A comparative analysis of the obtained values is performed.
