Abstract. The article is a part of the author’s dissertation research. The technique and results of long-term experimental studies of corrosion of reinforcement in normal cracks of reinforced concrete elements and reinforced concrete structures in a liquid highly aggressive chloride-containing medium under the action of variable and constant bending loads are presented.

The values of physical characteristics of reinforcement corrosion in normal cracks of reinforced concrete elements, obtained after long-term effects of variable and constant bending loads in the presence of liquid highly corrosive chloride-containing medium, are presented. The results of calculation of statistical probability distribution of values of physical characteristics of corrosion of reinforcement in normal cracks of reinforced concrete elements at their variable opening are given.

The relative values of changes in the physical characteristics of the reinforcement corrosion in normal cracks of jelly-concrete structures after long-term applications of the bending load are shown in comparison with the constant bending load in the periodically acting liquid highly aggressive chloride-containing medium. The variable bending load in comparison with the constant bending load in normal cracks of concrete increases by half the corrosion spread on the reinforcing bar, both in its length and along its perimeter, as well as the maximum depth of corrosion damage to the reinforcement.
