Abstract. The current state of traffic safety on the roads of our country in comparison with previous years is more favorable. However, the tightening of traffic rules and high penalties for their violation do not always lead to a significant reduction in mortality and injuries on the roads. The scale and nature of this road safety problem in our country, and as a result, social, economic and demographic consequences, have a significant impact on Russia’s national security, and therefore the task of providing road safety represents an independent state problem. In order to reduce accidents on motor roads, it is necessary to implement various measures aimed at increasing road safety, while it is obvious that, as the socio-economic situation in the country improves, political stability and the provision of road safety will improve. In our opinion, the effectiveness of the development and application of various technical means that contribute to the improvement of road safety depends directly on the willingness of society to pay a price that can provide security. A developed and rich society and the state has higher values of human life and thus is ready to pay more for its security, while providing higher values in this direction. A technical tool in the form of an artificial unevenness arranged on the roads, aimed at reducing the accident rate, was proposed. The world experience of using artificial irregularities is presented. The variants of the device of these technical means on highways are considered.
