Abstract. In the context of modern technologies development and the constant safety requirements increase, reliability and durability of bridge structures, the correct choice of a calculation software package is one of the key factors for the successful implementation of projects. Software packages are specialised tools developed to assist engineers in the process of designing and calculating bridge structures. Such programs include various modules and functions that allow the analysis and calculation of different types of bridges and provide their modelling and visualisation possibilities. The article presents an overview of software packages designed for the calculation and design of bridge structures.
The software packages are divided into three groups: universal programs based on the finite element method (FEM), various computer-aided design systems (CAD), which are oriented to the creation of civil objects engineering construction and specialised programs developed for the calculation of bridge structures.
The review provides the main characteristics of each software package, such as functionality, capabilities to calculate and design different types of bridge structures, supported standards and regulations, the ability to specify different types of materials and loads, available tools for modelling and output of calculation results.
The main idea of the article is that the software package choice for the calculation and design of bridge structures is an important step that can significantly affect their quality and safety. The authors call for a careful analysis and selection of the software package, taking into account its functionality, reliability and compliance with modern standards and requirements.
