Probabilistic modeling of behavior of reinforced bridge structures in aggressive operating conditions

Abstract. The problem of probabilistic modeling of the behavior of reinforced bridge structures under the combined action of a load and a chloride-attack is considered. A generalized model of deformation of bent elements is constructed that takes into account the probabilistic nature of the load, the penetration of the chloride-containing medium, the corrosion damage of the reinforcement, the dispersion of the geometric characteristics of the bent reinforced concrete elements, the thickness of the protective layer, and the probabilistic nature of the mechanical characteristics of concrete and reinforcement.

The technique of probabilistic modeling of the stress-strain state and the durability of the bent reinforced elements is developed. On the example of a reinforced beam with rectangular cross section (bridge support) loaded with a uniformly distributed load and subjected to a comprehensive action of the chloride-containing medium, a computational analysis of the deformation process and evaluation of the durability using the statistical modeling method were performed.

Durability was calculated taking into account the random properties of the load, the mechanical characteristics of concrete and reinforcement, the geometric dimensions of the section and the characteristics of the chloride-containing medium that causes the destruction of concrete and corrosion of the reinforcement. The influence of various random parameters on the dispersion of the durability of a loaded reinforced beam in a chloride-containing medium was analyzed.

The influence of input random parameters on the durability of a beam is determined differently, random effects of load and mechanical characteristics of concrete exert the greatest influence on the dispersion of durability. The characteristics of the armature, the chloride-containing medium, the protective layer can be considered deterministic, since their influence on the scattering interval of longevity is very small in comparison with other.
