Abstract. Quality lighting of roads and streets is one of the most important aspects of the normal life of the city or locality. Improper lighting of roads is the cause of a significant part of road traffic accidents (RTAs) and accidents that cause death.

The Foundation of effective road lighting is selecting a quality and reliable lighting system that will not only provide the necessary level of illumination of the road sections, but also guarantees a long service life of the system, which determines the need for repair work and additional cost for maintaining the proper functioning of the system of road lighting.

Best options when choosing lamps and fixtures for road lighting are powerful and highly efficient lamp with high precision the distribution of the light rays and flow. Preference is given to the most efficient led lamps. They are efficient and reliable in operation. The organization of the lighting of highways is a complex of several activities. Takes into account not only the location of lighting fixtures, but also how to manage light.

We have made calculations for lighting some streets in the city of Bryansk, about five years ago, and this year, based on the increase in the number of transport streams and the replacement of some streets lamps. Calculations were made on the basis of the program DIAlux.
