Abstract. The pipeline systems for transportation of natural gas, crude oil and petroleum products have become an important regulator of economy and state security as well as an important component of the international policy. The undersea pipeline is a high-risk facility (potentially hazardous object, dangerous manufacturing location). The author of article fixes great attention on accidents with the undersea pipelines. There was carried out a statistics analysis of the offshore pipeline failures. The concept of accident risk is considered as the universal characteristic of security. In comparison with the onshore gas pipelines the offshore ones are less dangerously explosive and fire hazardous in service. But the damages of offshore pipelines require a complex repair.
