Construction of pavements for parkings close to curbs

Abstract. The article includes the basic requirements for the design of pavement structures on the parkings of the municipal roads close to curbs. The authors investigated the influence of vehicle speed and height of tyre section on the permissible curb elevation on the basis of analysis of the composition of the parked cars and traffic of motor vehicles. They described the requirements for the surface slopes of parking depending on the coating material on the basis of generalization of the available experience. The requirements to paving parking boxes by the natural or artificial stone are reviewed. The article estimates the effect of subgrade capacity on the pavement structure of parking. On the basis of regression analysis the authors proved that the thickness of the structure carrier depends on the soil adhesion and the weight ratio is equal to 0.167, what is 2-3 times greater than the significance of other factors. It may be inferred that under the pavement it is preferable to use the loamy soils that are easily compacted and characterized by the higher shear properties. The use of geotextiles as a drainage layer increases strength of underlying subgrade, reduces the amount of construction works, provides a long-term and effective drainage work and prevents contamination of the base material with the soil particles in the process of construction and operation of facilities. The authors justified the requirements for designing construction of pavements for parking of cars on the municipal roads close to curbs. The rational constructions of pavement made from the local building materials with asphalt-concrete and paved coverings, which are recommended for practical use.
