The aim of the study is to create a model capable of reliably describing the limiting states of masonry under various types of stress conditions and identifying the corresponding mechanisms of destruction. The developed criterion is based on the method of searching for a critical site. The authors propose an original modification of the Coulomb — Mohr strength theory, in which the initial adhesion (resistance to net shear) is modeled by a symmetric tensor of the fourth rank. This approach allows us to take into account the dependence of strength characteristics not only on the orientation of the normal to the potential fracture site, but also on the direction of action of tangential stresses on this site relative to the axes of anisotropy of the material. The criterion of fracture from normal stresses (separation or fragmentation) is formulated using a tensor of the second rank. The mathematical problem of determining the orientation of the critical site where the maximum of the destruction function is realized is solved using modern numerical optimization methods (algorithms «L-BFGS» and «COBYLA»). A comprehensive verification of the proposed model has been performed based on comparison with the results of well-known experimental studies of masonry under uniaxial (compression, shear with compression) and biaxial loading. The surfaces of limit states in the main stress space, which are anisotropic Coulomb — Mohr pyramids, are visualized. The results of the analysis showed that the developed criterion makes it possible to correctly describe and distinguish the main modes of masonry destruction: brittle separation, shear localized along loose seams, shear along arbitrarily oriented sites, as well as compression fracture (splitting or fragmentation).

Keywords: masonry; homogenization; strength criteria; critical site; numerical optimization; shear; Coulomb — Mohr criterion

Smagin Ilya Vasilievich OOO «KM-CENTER», Nizhny Novgorod, Russia Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia E-mail: i13vs@ya.ru ORCID: https://orcid.org/0009-0002-5284-2464 RSCI: https://elibrary.ru/author_profile.asp?id=1278068 Likhacheva Svetlana Yurevna Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Nizhny Novgorod, …

[62,5

post-3027","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-issue-3-2026","category-article
["GET
