The main directions of the use of geosynthetic materials are considered in detail, including the strengthening of the slopes of the earthbed, the reinforcement of asphalt concrete pavements, the reinforcement of road surfaces, the construction of junctions and the stabilization of embankments on weak foundations. Special attention is paid to the technological aspects of the implementation of geogrids in various structural elements of road structures. The international experience of using geogrids in the USA, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan and other countries is studied. The results of domestic developments initiated since the 1980s are presented, in particular, the work of the Tyumen Institute of Construction and TSNIIS, which demonstrate the high efficiency of using geogrids in the conditions of the Russian climatic zone. The economic advantages of using geogrids are analyzed: saving rubble by 15\u201335 %, reducing labor costs by 20\u201325 %, an increase in the service life of structures by 20\u201330 % and an extension of repair periods by more than 2 times. The characteristics of various types of geogrids, including glass grids of the SPAP type, polyester and basalt materials, their strength characteristics and application features are considered in detail. Special attention is paid to the study of the influence of geogrids on the prevention of reflected cracks in asphalt concrete coatings and increasing the crack resistance of road structures. The results of laboratory and field tests of various types of geogrids in real-world operation are presented. The prospects of using geogrids in various fields are considered: road and railway construction, the construction of noise-proof structures, the construction of runways and hydraulic structures.
