The proposed method should ensure connection strength under known shear and shear forces acting on the stud.

The solution to this problem yields analytical relationships linking the forces transmitted from the deck slab to the main beam, the ultimate strength of the polymer composite material, and the geometric parameters of the connection. This allows the method to be applied in the engineering design of connection between hybrid bridge structures.

The calculation of the outer washer and bolt head is performed within the framework of the principles of bending theory for solid and annular plates. The choice of this mathematical framework is based on the nature of the loading of the washers and bolt head, which operate primarily in bending when the pre-tensioning force is transmitted through the contact surfaces. The outer washer and bolt head are treated as elastic annular and solid plates with boundary conditions appropriate to the element’s operation, allowing for analytical evaluation of deflections and determination of the minimum element thickness. The stud and bolt shank were calculated using structural mechanics methods.

The geometric parameters of the structure, determined using the developed joint calculation method, were verified by numerical analysis using the finite element method and are consistent with known behavior patterns of polymer composite materials under localized compression.

Keywords: polymer composite materials; hybrid superstructures; connecting device; superstructure abutment; bridges made of polymer-composite materials; problems of composite application; superstructure made of polymer composite materials; calculation justification; finite element modeling; methodology

Rybakov Sergey Viktorovich Russian University of Transport, Moscow, Russia E-mail: Rybakov.sv@bk.ru ORCID: https://orcid.org/0009-0000-0810-7994 RSCI: https://elibrary.ru/author_profile.asp?id=1178306 Abstract.
