The authors review existing methods for modifying soils and cement-soils, including laboratory studies on the compressive strength of samples modified with inorganic/organic binders. Soil modification plays a crucial role in road construction as it enhances soil characteristics, increasing their strength and durability. This is particularly significant in areas with limited availability of stone materials, as modified soils can replace stone materials as road base layers. The primary focus is on analyzing the effectiveness of additive application for cement-soil modification, which allows for improved strength characteristics and their use as layers in road structures. Laboratory studies have been conducted on the compressive strength of samples from soils modified with inorganic/organic binders, and results have been obtained for compositions with partial replacement of the mineral component by plastic particles. The findings of this research suggest promising avenues for further investigation into soil and cement-soil modification to enhance strength characteristics and their application as layers in road construction.

Keywords: road; soil; cement-soil; organic binder; road pavement; defects; building materials

Aleksej B.
