Abstract. The article examines the application of biostabilization technologies for thermal stabilization of soils to enhance the stability of highways in permafrost conditions. Primary focus is given to the use of seasonally active cooling devices, such as thermal stabilizers and thermosyphons, which ensure stable thermal conditions and prevent soil thawing. Thermal process modeling was performed using the Frost 3D software package, accounting for moisture phase transitions and non-stationary thermal phenomena. For the first time, an integral criterion of frozen state stability (Kу, stability coefficient) is proposed, enabling quantitative evaluation of device efficiency based on changes in frozen soil volume over time. A calculation example demonstrated an expansion of the frozen zone over 4,5 years of operation, confirming the long-term effectiveness of thermal stabilizers. The obtained temperature profiles and cooling capacity dynamics indicate high system stability under seasonal climatic fluctuations. The use of seasonally active cooling devices has proven effective in reducing anthropogenic impact, improving road infrastructure reliability, and implementing biostabilization design principles in northern regions.
