Abstract. Modern trucks operated on public roads are equipped with radial or combined tires, the design of which involves the use of steel cord and higher parameters of internal air pressure. These changes lead to a significant reduction in the contact patch area and a change in its shape, which requires improvement in the methods for calculating flexible road structures.
This article analyzes domestic regulatory documents used in different periods for the design of road pavements. The authors pay special attention to the issues of determining and accounting for the design parameters of static and dynamic loading of vehicle transport. Changes in the regulatory framework, their influence on design solutions and practical application are considered. The requirements for loads on road structures, their evolution and compliance with modern operating conditions are analyzed. Differences in calculation approaches in different periods are noted, trends in the development of regulatory requirements are identified, and their shortcomings are revealed. The conclusions obtained indicate the advisability of conducting a cycle of field tests of tires under real axle loads in field conditions and determining the real parameters of impact on the road pavement for further modeling of the parameters of the stress-strain state of structures and the calculation of road pavement structures.
