Abstract. During the construction of railway bridges at the Eastern landfill of JSC RUSSIAN RAILWAYS, a problem arose related to the arrival of reinforced concrete superstructures with vertical cracks and the possibility of their further use. The article presents the development of issues of the influence of vertical cracks on the durability, performance and reliability of reinforced concrete superstructures, which is relevant for scientific research from the standpoint of their use in construction and further operation. It should be noted that these issues have not been fully studied and presented in the scientific literature. The aim of the research is to assess the impact of vertical cracks in the elements of reinforced concrete superstructures on durability, performance and reliability during further operation. The authors conducted experimental research in the real conditions of the construction of reinforced concrete bridges to establish the actual parameters of vertical cracks in superstructures. The authors of the article have developed mathematical models for assessing crack resistance, stress-strain state, durability and reliability of reinforced concrete superstructures using actual data obtained in real-world operating conditions of railway bridges. As a result of the research, the authors have developed parameters of the influence of vertical cracks on the stress-strain state of reinforced concrete superstructures, as well as criteria for assessing their durability, operability and reliability. The maximum values of the workings of superstructures in the presence of vertical cracks in them, taking into account the degradation of structures, were also determined. The developed models can be used to determine a rational operation strategy, establish a technical resource, as well as timely repair and monitoring of reinforced concrete superstructures of railway bridges.
