Abstract. The point-rating system of assessment has become an integral part of academic activities in higher education institutions. Given the reduction in lecture hours and the complete elimination of computational and graphical control assignments in the courses «Theoretical Mechanics», «Strength of Materials», and «Structural Mechanics» according to current curricula, the issue of evaluating students’ understanding of the material they are currently mastering remains relevant. The practice of using conventional multiple-choice tests does not allow for an assessment of which part of the material has been mastered by students at the current time through their independent work. To address this, the authors have developed special computational test tasks that partially solve this problem and replace the missing computational and graphical works as per the plan. The authors present computational tasks for sections of the subject «Theoretical Mechanics», such as determining the moment arm of forces relative to a moment point from the «Statics» section. Additionally, a computational task is presented for determining the center of gravity of a flat section, which is crucial for successfully studying the geometric characteristics of sections in the subject «Strength of Materials». The article also discusses the creation of tests for the «Structural Mechanics» course, starting with the simplest determination of the number of degrees of freedom, and a second task related to the complex topic of solving statically indeterminate problems using the method of forces. This article describes the aforementioned tasks and their role in studying the courses «Theoretical Mechanics», «Strength of Materials», and «Structural Mechanics».
